Rent Control Hurts Low-Income Families & Increases Costs for All Renters

This position paper details the consequences of rent control policies, which have been used in certain California jurisdictions to attempt to increase access to rental housing. Superficially regulating how much a landlord can charge may seem like an effective policy to improve affordability, but the facts demonstrate that rent control policies reduce access to affordable housing and create other harmful consequences. Jurisdictions considering rent control should abandon the effort.

A Case for California Homeownership:  Why California Realtors┬« Oppose Congressional Tax Reform Proposal

C.A.R. is not opposed to tax reform, but C.A.R. is opposed to H.R.1. C.A.R. opposes any reform that eliminates or weakens housing incentives, or increases taxes on California homeowners. This tax reform bill does all of that, which is why C.A.R. opposes H.R.1.
